Highbury College are working with Bramble Nursery based in Southsea. Originally The Brambles Nursery School, we have been providing pre-school education since 1887.  In February 1999 The Brambles Nursery School was designated as an Early Excellence Centre and started providing Childcare services from 2005.  The Childcare provision operated alongside the Pre-School providing wrap around childcare for children attending the pre-school and full time childcare for children aged 0-4 until March 2017, when The Brambles Nursery School amalgamated with Goldsmith Infant School who they shared a site with since 1887 and became Bramble Infant School and Nursery.

This is a varied role that will require you to attend to the physical needs of the children, fostering their development, independence and self-reliance.
Duties will include:
  • supporting and assisting children’s play and learning
  • assisting in preparing materials, learning activities and equipment
  • clearing away activities as appropriate
  • comforting sick or injured children
  •  supervising children at meal times, feeding as necessary
As an apprenticeship, it is an entry level position so practical experience is not essential, however a genuine passion for working with children is vital. The successful candidate will have the ability to work well as a member of the team and be able to be a positive role model for the children. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate well with a variety of people. 
The entry requirements for this apprenticeship are GCSE grades A-E/9-2 in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 1. 
The apprenticeship will run over 18 months and will consist of working with the employer Monday to Friday and attending an evening session at the college one evening a week.
