The Learning Support Apprentice Administrator is responsible to the Head of Department in Learning Support, the post holder’s primary role is to act as an Administrator for the Service, assisting the SEN Funding Administrator to manage the administrative workload of the Service effectively, undertaking a variety of tasks which leads to enabling an efficient and auditable record of Learning Support and enabling the College to meet objectives. Team working and communications within an overall approach that values people will be of key importance and to be the initial point of contact for most communications within the Learning Support Service.
Main Duties will include providing a high level of administrative and secretarial support including:
- Maintaining panel data, arranging appointments and preparing for meetings and events.
- Typing correspondence and preparing reports as requested by Head of Learning Support.
- Taking minutes of cross college meetings as required and ensuring the distribution of said minutes.
- Maintaining an effective filing system, paper based and electronic, ensuring confidentiality where necessary.
- Inputting of data to Pro monitor
- To maintain procedural records and the collation of student and staff tracking documentation within the Learning Support Service.
Personal requirements for this role include:
Experience of contributing to centralised data systems
Knowledge of data base and excel programs
Understanding of the confidential nature of the work required by Head of Learning Support.  Ability to support that role with sensitivity and efficiency
Good written and verbal skills including the experience of drafting letters, reports and accurate meeting notes
Good IT skills including a good working knowledge of the following applications: Work, Excel and Powerpoint
Excellent interpersonal skills
Understanding of safeguarding in the context of education
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
Ability to meet targets within agreed timescales
Excellent organisational skills & good attention to detail
Good Keyboard skills (min 40 wpm)
Desirable criteria: 
- Liaising with other agencies 
- Knowledge or Special Educational Needs 
- Experience in an Educational setting 
The entry requirements for this apprenticeship qualification are A-C/9-4 in Maths and English at GCSE or Functional Skills Level 2 equivalent. An additional Level 2 qualification in Business would be advantageous but not essential. 
This apprenticeship will run for 18 months and during the apprenticeship an assessor will come to see you in your workplace and will assist with the completion of the NVQ work. This will include professional observations, discussions and consultations.
