Payroll Level 3 Apprenticeship

Monday to Friday 40 hours



Dataplan Payroll Ltd is recruiting Payroll Administration Apprentices to join our team of payroll heroes.

Data Plan have big ambitions to shake up the world of payroll and outsourcing and need like-minded people to help them achieve their ambitions. You may not have considered payroll as a career option before, but it is a fast moving sector and provides a fantastic career path for the right individuals.

What is involved?

Payroll administration requires and mix of analytics, organisational and people skills. This Level 3 Apprenticeship will provide on the job, classroom and online learning to equip you with the skills and behaviours to become a qualified payroll professional.

The main areas this apprenticeship covers include:

  • Legislative and Contractual Obligations / Internal & External Reporting of Payroll Information
  • GDPR and Computer Security, Employee Records & Ethical Standards, Principles of Payroll
  • Effective Communication with Employees and Stakeholders, Legislation, HMRC
  • Gross / Net Pay, Contributions, Deductions, SMP, Employer Responsibilities
  • Sage Payroll
  • Reporting, Data back-up, new staff, leavers, record management

The skills and knowledge you gain will support you on the road to your professional payroll career.

What qualifications and experience do you require?

In order to join this programme, you will need to provide certificates for English & Maths GCSEs A-C/9-4 or functional skills English & Maths Level 2 (or equivalent – O Level, GCE, A-Level, Degree). If these qualifications have not yet been attained, dependent upon an initial English & Maths assessment, these can be achieved alongside the apprenticeship.

No payroll experience is required to join the apprenticeship programme.  The programme is designed for absolute beginners and to achieve a qualification along the way. 

What will you achieve at the end of the programme?

The apprenticeship is delivered by Highbury College and can be achieved within 12 to 18 months.  On completion you will also gain a supporting, industry recognised qualification.

By joining the apprenticeship, you will become an employee of Dataplan and actively gain practical experience alongside the apprenticeship which is delivered online.

Whilst studying this apprenticeship, you will be eligible for immediate professional body recognition at Student Affiliate level of the Global Payroll Association (GPA).  Also, professional body recognition as a student member at the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP).  Successful completion of the apprenticeship will provide eligibility to apply for Individual Affiliate membership of the GPA and Associate membership of the CIPP.
