CIPD HR Apprenticeship – Level 3

Babcock – Lakeside North harbour, Portsmouth

Monday – Friday 37.5 hours

£16,000 pa

Babcock International are looking for a HR Apprentice to support transactional HR activity, involving the Shared Service Centre where appropriate, on HR related processes and enquiries in accordance with legislation, suggested best practice and Babcock procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

New Starter Administration including:

  • Employment contracts and associated documentation, and creating personal e-files
  • Recruitment administration and referencing
  • Equipment and benefit ordering
  • Preparation of induction packs, monitoring and chasing for returns as appropriate, updating employee records
  • TUPE administration
  • Signposting and basic information on HR policy and procedure
  • Process applications and renewals for all types of security and CRB paperwork
  • Comply with Security and CRB policy and governance
  • Organising pre-employment medical procedures

Payroll, Benefits and Compensation including:

  • Monthly payroll activity
  • Provide data to support annual pay reviews, bonus processes and benchmarking exercises
  • Administration of benefits – eg holiday, pension, flexible benefits scheme, private healthcare
  • Log and process pay and benefits changes
  • Effectively administer employee engagement schemes such as long service awards, volunteering and employee recognition

General HR Administration including:

  • Process absence and sickness administration in accordance with company policy
  • Probation monitoring
  • Contractual changes and variations
  • Leaver and transfers administration
  • Standard employment legislation administration
  • Data protection compliance and administration
  • Performance and capability administration
  • Casework administration
  • Maternity, paternity, adoption and parental basic information and administration
  • Personal information administration
  • Raising Purchase Orders
  • Assisting in adhoc projects as HR Rep

Reporting, systems management and control including:

  • Updating HR pages on Company intranet
  • Management information and reporting – eg turnover, absence
  • Employee data management
  • Creating reports

Key Outputs/Deliverables

  • Maintain all deadlines
  • Respond to first line HR administrative queries as appropriate, eg face to face or via email or telephone, written correspondence
  • Direct managers to policies, procedures and techniques to enable effective staff management
  • Ensure adherence to all HR processes and procedures
  • Ensure SuccessFactors (HR database), document administration, employee files are up to date and accurate
  • Ensure data integrity is maintained in line with current data protection legislation
  • Requests are processed effectively and efficiently
  • Archiving of files and documents in line with departmental procedure
  • A satisfied customer base

Qualifications:

  • English and Maths GCSE’s C / 4 or above
  • ICT Level 2 or above
  • In the use of Microsoft word and excel would be useful

Course Breakdown

You as the apprentice will take responsibility for completion of course work required to achieve CIPD Certificate qualification and gathering evidence and completing the portfolio of work, whilst in the workplace.
