Our Group Publishing Systems team are always seeking to get the best out of our advertising CRM systems.With our ongoing commitment to our sales teams we are continuously developing these systems and the role of TRAINEE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TESTER is absolutely crucial in making sure that what we deliver works perfectly.Working closely with our development and configuration team, suitable candidates will be testing, communicating and improving our delivery to the business.

Duties to include but not limited to:
  • Carry out system testing to meet delivery deadline
  • Carry out new version testing in line with scheduled targets
  • Troubleshoot to identify issues and record
  • Support a variety of software versions for multiple systems
  • Understand the architecture of the structure insofar as to be able to troubleshoot problems
  • Accurately record and report feedback
  • Monitor workflows to ensure that files are moving between the relevant systems and rectify and make suggestions for improvements as appropriate.
  • Have an ability to share information with others via email, face to face and over the telephone
  • Be able to follow instructions relating to system set up
  • Be task orientated and able to work quickly and accurately
  • Be aware of deadlines and operate with efficiency
  • Use all available software to maintain workflow and standards
  • Be flexible in timing, attitude and approach to meet the needs of the business
  • Consider opportunities where standards could be improved
  • Analyse existing workflows with a view to improving work practices
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with all colleagues and customers
  • Constantly strive to increase knowledge of all systems and workflows

Planning & Organising

  • Work with all internal and external contacts to meet deadlines and maintain consistency in work flow
  • Plan workload to be able to achieve your tasks, attend meetings, training sessions and any other planned activity

    Communication

  • Liaise with other teams to resolve issues that affect our systems and  associated workflows and look to improve these workflows whenever possible
  • Liaise with Internal/External customers as necessary
  • Interact, when necessary, with 3rd party suppliers to report and escalate issues with a view to resolution
  • Work as part of the team, participating in meetings when required
  • Apply good customer service and communication skills both internally and externally

The candidate will need to have an interest in IT but no experience is necessary as full training will be given. However, a relevant educational background or relevant experience in business administration or IT support would be an advantage.

 
The candidate should be able to demonstrate flexibility and the ability to work under pressure and to a deadline. They should be analytical and be technologically adept. 
 
The entry requirements for this apprenticeship qualification are English and Maths GCSE grades A-C/9-2 as well as an IT qualification. 
 
The apprenticeship will be run for 18 months and will consist of an assessor from Highbury College coming out to the workplace every 6 weeks to conduct observations, discussions and set assignments. The apprentice will also be required to attend virtual classroom sessions remotely from either work or home. Once the apprenticeship has ended there will be an opportunity to remain with the company and progress.
