We are delighted to offer a vacancy for a childcare apprentice at our nursery.This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with children and would like to complete a qualification whilst gaining experience in a busy,friendly nursery environment. We are looking for someone who will be committed to provide a stimulating and fun atmosphere for children, promoting positive behaviour in children and encouraging the children to be as positive and independent as possible.
 

Main Duties will :

  • To be flexible and willing to work closely with our senior nursery team and plan suitable activities for the age range of children in your group in conjunction with other group leaders. You will be responsible for a small group of key children.
  • To be involved in assessing, observing and recording children’s achievements and meeting parents on parents meeting.
  • To keep individual learning journals/care records up to date.
  •  To support all staff and engage in effective team work.
  • To attend all out of work activities for example training, monthly staff meetings, parent/ carer evenings, sports day, graduation day.
  • Be involved in food preparation such as snacks, meals and cleaning equipment.
  • Keep an up to date record of accidents, ensuring the nursery is in compliance with the health and safety regulations
  • To respect confidentiality of information received.
  • To ensure that all of the children’s needs are met liaising and working with parents.

Personal Qualities:

Have a passion for working with children and have a caring, an enthusiastic, patient personality.

Working Week:
37 hours a week worked on a rota basis between the hours of 8am – 6pm

The entry requirements for the qualification are A-E/9-2 in GCSE English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 1.

The apprenticeship will last 18 months and will consist of work based training every 6 weeks with an assessor from Highbury College and attending college 1 evening a week for 2 hours for theory training.
