HR Apprentice

fantastic opportunity at Highbury College for a HR Apprentice to join our HR department. 
The HR Apprentice is responsible to the Executive Director of HR & OD. The apprentice will provide high quality support to the HR department whilst completing the usual HR duties which leads to an efficient and auditable record of Human Resources. A conscientious approach to work and communication is vital for the role as well as having a people focused attitude. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provision of excellent customer service to College staff by ensuring:

  • the highest standards of customer care;
  • appropriate responses to telephone enquiries
  • follow-up to enquiries
  • appropriate liaison with staff

HR Departmental Support, to include:

  • ensuring that visitors to the department are greeted and welcomed appropriately;
  • Answer visitors queries where possible or ensure they are directed to the relevant person to assist them with their query;
  • ensuring that departmental telephones are answered swiftly;
  • ensuring that confidentiality is maintained;
  • processing incoming and outgoing post

To work with the HR Team to ensure that all administrative processes are thorough, effective and in accordance with the College’s standards, to include:

  • Supporting the College’s staff recruitment processes.
  • Supporting College Students to process their DBS checks for their placement activities, via the online system
  • Process College staff DBS renewals via the online system
  • Monitoring and completing the College’s single central record
  • Completing the College’s absence (holiday and sickness) system
  • Providing notes at required meetings
  • Maintaining staff personnel records (paper based and electronic)
  • Providing admin support to training events (organising rooms, refreshments etc)
  • Providing admin support for Staff Member of the Month programme
  • Recording and logging staff appraisals and other staff documentation
  • Maintenance of a regular archiving process for redundant/obsolete files
  • To provide support to the HR Team, regarding one-off tasks and projects, diary planning

As part of this apprenticeship, you will also be expected to study and collect evidence for your CIPD Apprenticeship programme.

The entry requirements for the qualification are GCSE grades A-C/9-4 in English and Maths or the Functional Skills Level 2 equivalent. You will need to provide evidence of these grades to progress your application. 
This is a fixed term 18 month contract with the potential to progress to a permanent contract for the right person. 
You will be working in the HR department 4 days a week and will spend 1 day a week in the apprenticeship class for the theory side of the HR qualification.
