Vortec Marine Ltd is a widely respected yacht service and repair centre, established in 2006 by Ross Collingwood.

Originally specialising in Oyster and Swan Yachts (accredited as the UK’s only Authorised Service Centre for Nautor’s Swan), Vortec Marine now offers this same high level of yacht maintenance and management across sailing and motor yachts of all makes, with workshops in Port Solent, Endeavour Quay, Gosport and Swanwick Marina on the Hamble.

 
As a Business Administration Apprentice you will be facilitating office organisation and communication by performing administrative duties and acting as a receptionist.
 
The main duties will include:
  • Keeping well-organised files and records of business activity
  • Providing office support including customer and management support
  • Keeping customer and supplier databases up to date
  • Interacting with clients either on the phone or in person
  • Assisting with accounts procedures
  • Answering phones and connecting calls to the correct party, including passing on messages
  • Processing employee expenses
  • Assisting with travel arrangements
  • Preparing documents by printing, copying, and scanning
  • Collecting, sorting and sending post where required
  • Acting as a personal assistant to the executive team
  • Scheduling appointments and events
  • Ordering office stationery and other supplies
  • Preparing meeting rooms by setting up chairs and getting refreshments
  • Participating in office meetings and taking meeting minutes
  • Giving feedback on office efficiency and suggesting possible improvements
  • Any other administrative tasks that are required
 
The successful candidate will have good IT skills and will have strong communication skills, both verbal and written. 
 
The candidate will also be positive, enthusiastic and have an eagerness to learn. 
 
The entry requirements for the role are GCSE English and Maths A-E/9-2 or Functional Skills Level 1 (for the Level 2 qualification) or A-C/9-4 or Functional Skills Level 2 (for the Level 3 qualification).
 
The apprenticeship will last for 12-13 months and will consist of work place learning with an assessor coming out to see the apprentice every 6 weeks to set written assignments, conduct observations and discussions. Once the apprenticeship has been completed there will be opportunities within the business to remain as a permanent office administrator or project administrator.
