Level 3 Digital Marketer apprentice

Driving licence and car is preferable

Solent Sky Services are CAA-certified drone pilots, spotters, filmmakers, photographers, and digital marketers based in Portsmouth, with permissions for professional commercial operations in the UK and overseas. Serving commercial, marine, event, and construction industries with professional aerial films and ground photos, property and land surveys, and in-house editing and marketing. We capture unique aerial and ground visuals and help put them to good use through our full-service digital marketing packages.

Our impeccable safety record has earned us special CAA permissions, allowing us to fly further, higher, and closer than other drone companies, in more places, circumstances, and conditions. We’re also members of Drone Safe Register.

We are a family-run business, headquartered in Portsmouth and operating all over the UK. We are very well-connected within the drone, filmmaking, and advertising industries, and can assemble larger teams for projects of all scales.

About the role

We are offering a unique opportunity for a Digital Marketer apprentice to carry out various tasks including marketing campaigns and managing the company’s social media, along with general administrative duties as well as undertaking filming and editing. We need a well-rounded, down to earth, hardworking person who already has a proven interest in the media industry and in the other sectors that we service.

It’s very important for us to find the right person to fill this role. As you will learn, it is a very unique role and not your average digital marketing position. You will be working on range of projects from surveying to media production. It’s around a 50/50 split currently.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Respond efficiently to enquiries using online and social media platforms
  • Deal with search marketing, search engine optimisation (SEO), email marketing, web analytics and metrics and mobile apps
  • Use digital tools effectively
  • Build and implement digital campaigns across a variety of digital media platforms
  • Research new online media opportunities that may benefit the business including mobile, social media, development of blogs and forums
  • Aerial and ground filming and editing
  • Assist the Director and Project Manager where required
  • General administrative duties

  • You will have the opportunity to undertake training to become a commercial drone pilot
  • Overtime is paid

  • Holiday – 20 days plus UK public holidays, increasing one day per year you are with us, up to 25 days

Desired qualifications

  • 9-4/A*-C in English, ICT and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in all three.
  • A proven interest and experience in the media industry.

Course breakdown

Formal training usually takes place every 1 to 2 months and assessors will also be in regular contact to support learning. The programme runs for 16 months.

Students are taught using our partner Online Live (OLL) learning platform. This is the same platform used to teach corporates like Dell and Microsoft. The OLL platform gives access to live classrooms and fully functional virtual environments giving the freedom to attend from virtually anywhere.

You will be working towards a Level 3 Standard in Digital Marketing and you will achieve the following qualification.

·        BCS Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Coding

·        BCS Level 3 Certificate in Marketing Principles

·        BCS Level 3 Digital Marketing Business Principles

Further to the qualifications above, you will also achieve the following;

·        MTA HTML 5

·        CIW Site Development Associate

·        CIW Internet Business Associate

·        CIW Social Media

Upon completion you can claim membership as an Affiliate (Professional) member of the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and/or Associate membership.

Due to the learning being taught virtually the training can be completed at home, in the work place or at our college campus in Cosham in a computer room – location is agreed with the employer. Time spent training will come under the working hours per week.

Future prospects

Solent Sky Services are looking to expand our strong but small internal team and will invest in the successful candidate who wants to join us on our journey. There will be a full time position once the apprentice has successfully completed the apprenticeship.
