Level 2 Automotive – Petersfield Exhaust and Tyre Services Ltd

Based in Petersfield

National Minimum Wage. There is also a monthly bonus scheme generated against monthly targets. 4 weeks holiday plus all bank holidays.

Working hours are 8.30 – 5.30 Monday to Friday and 8.30 – 4 on Saturdays (2 15 minute breaks and 30 mins for lunch)

 

The business was started by Maurice Cooke the owner who has over 60years experience of working in the motor trade, having been a director of a Ford Main Dealer with responsibility for a number of service workshops and bodyshops at several locations. We have traded in Petersfield for over 20 years with many employees have been with us since the start of business.

 

Responsibilities

The candidate needs to commit to a full apprenticeship in the Repair and Servicing of Cars and Light Commercial Vehicles.

 

Full training in the use of;

  • Equipment
  • MOT test lane
  • Tyre & Exhaust fitting
  • General servicing of Cars & Light Commercial vehicles driven by Petrol – Diesel – Electric, Manual and Automatic Transmissions
  • Front and Rear Wheel Drive
  • Manual & Power Steering
  • Electronic systems and Diagnose
  • Air Conditioning
  • You will also be taught telephone answering, computer operational skills and customer

 

Employment will commence with a 3 month probation period to establish you are fit for the role:

 

  • Regular attendance on all work days including Saturdays and college days and good time keeping essential.
  • Smart appearance, sensible dress, safety boots/shoes, correct use of personal safety items are all essential.
  • Strick compliance with all our Health & Safety Rules and regulations to ensure safe working practices
  • No driving of our company or customer owned vehicles
  • Assisting with good housekeeping, disposal waste materials also recyclable items Engine oil Filters Tyres Scrap parts and packaging
  • Assisting with the return of ordered items not needed in the original packaging
  • Putting away stock items in their correct storage area.
  • Assisting with stock checks and advising of over stock or short falls
  • Basically employment will commence with assisting staff in completing the daily schedule of work in an organised and professional manner

Qualifications Required

  • Maths and English at grade 9-2/A-E or Functional Skills Level 1

 

Apprenticeship/Next Steps

You will progress as your skills and capabilities allow you coupled with your progress at college. The objective to be a fully skilled Technician by the time you have completed your college work. You may receive additional training on and or off site. You may be trained for authorisation as an MOT Tester.
