Job role
  • Entering data on SAGE and ftax software
  • Bookkeeping

  • Supporting the marketing and accounts department with ad-hoc administrative duties

  • Filling, photocopying and scanning and mailing documents

Qualifications
  • GCSE 9-4/A*-C or equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths, proof of certificates is required.
We do not have the facility to provide Maths and English upskilling alongside the apprenticeship, applications with less than the required grades will not be considered. Equally applications received not stating Maths and English GCSE/Functional Skills results will not be considered.
 
  • If you hold a Level 2 AAT Certificate or hold an A Level in Accounting Grade A*-C you can move straight onto the Level 3 apprenticeship.
Course details
 
For any apprentice that does not currently hold either a Level 2 AAT qualification or an A Level in Accounting they will need to complete for FREE a Level 2 Bookkeeping qualification with Highbury College. This will be included in their Level 3 apprenticeship but will mean that their apprenticeship length will extend from 14 months to 19 months.
 
The apprenticeship will need you to attend our college in Birmingham on a Thursday or Friday for a full college day which you need to commit to.
 
Apprentices are independently assessed at the end of their programme to achieve the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship at a Pass or Distinction grade.      
  • Synoptic Test (3 Hours on a College PC – 40%) Covering: IT Systems/Processes, Standards, Reporting, Analysis, Comms, Problem Solving, Quality and Accountability within a Financial Accounting Environment
  • A portfolio and reflective discussion (60%) showing evidence of knowledge, skills and behaviours while within the workplace had met required standards.
  • Standard Level 2 and Level 3 AAT Exams after each individual unit
This training will not be interrupted by COVID-19 measures as we are teaching apprentices using Microsoft Teams when they are unable to attend college.

Future prospects

The candidate will have the opportunity to progress to a trainee accountant following completion of the apprenticeship. For the right candidate there is a potential to turn this into a full-time permanent position with an increase in salary after the first year.

Things to consider
 
After the apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to support Client’s at their offices with their accounting needs.
Speaking Bengali could be advantageous due to clientele.
