Transalis is an IT company based in Portsmouth. Transalis drives client business growth by connecting the supply chain digitally, through the UKs largest information platform.
As the apprentice you will be responsible for delivering an effective onboarding experience for new customers, as well as new projects for existing customers. Key metrics for the role include a high level of customer satisfaction, prompt contact with customers once deals have been completed and clear and high-quality written communication. Responsible for ensuring agreed SLA (service level agreements) metrics on new customer account setups are completed using internal system tools and effective communication with 3rd party network connectivity providers.
Key responsibilities

This role will involve:
  • Answering the phone, transferring calls to the relevant person/department and taking detailed messages on behalf of work colleagues
  • Using internal employer software to update customer and vendor information
  • Communication via face to face, email and telephone
  • Assisting senior members and management
  • Participating in office meetings and taking meeting minutes
  • Giving feedback on office efficiency and suggesting possible improvements
  • Building relationships with customers
  • Keeping well-organised files and records of business activity
  • General administrative tasks including scanning and printing.
Key accountabilities
  • Ownership of end-end project
  • Set up and configuration
  • Run assigned testing processes to completion
  • Liaise with customer, Trading Partner & internal resources to meet agreed targets incl. test and go-live
  • Complete sign-off process incl. sending of customer survey
  • Record all activities in line with Project Management tool.
Key performance indictors
  1. Ensure customers are contacted within agreed timescales of the sale being completed by the sales team
  2. Set up accounts on Transalis systems within agreed timescale days for designated setup types
  3. Ensure setups and configurations are completed within agreed timescales of the request being received, working with third parties to set up and test connectivity
  4. Delivery of projects within agreed timescales.

  • Understanding of Project process and delivery - not essential, you will be taught this within the role.


  • 9-4/A*-C in English and maths or Functional Skills Level 2, proof of certificates is required
There is no college attendance, due to this applications with less than the required grades will not be considered. Equally applications received not stating maths and English GCSE/Functional Skills results will not be considered.
What does the programme include?
The Apprenticeship will focus on Business Administration and includes the following knowledge criteria:
  • Understanding the organisational purpose, activities, aims, values, vision for the future and resources.
  • Knows the organisational structure and demonstrates understanding of the benefits, knows their role in the team and recognises how their skills will help them progress.
  • Understands Laws, regulations and internal policies all related to their sector.
  • Understands relevant external factors (policy change, supply chain, national/global markets, employment).
  • Business Fundamentals – managing change, business finances and project management.
What attendance is required?
Your assessor will liaise with you to set up mutually convenient times for consultation and assessment visits at your place of work. Attendance at College may be required to complete some parts of the knowledge units.
It is a Government requirement for you to spend 20% of your apprenticeship working towards your “Off the Job Learning” – off the job learning can consist of college attendance, homework/coursework, project related work, employer training, mentoring and coaching – plus a number of other tasks.
Learning and assessment

Apprentices build a portfolio of work and work place assessors will be in regular contact to provide support, and to arrange on-site visits to observe the apprentices’ ability and skills in their daily role. It is important for the apprentice to take ownership of their own learning by seeking out opportunities to gain new skills on the job with the employer. The apprentice’s final grade will be determined by collective performance in the three assessments in the endpoint assessment. To achieve a pass or distinction the apprentice will need to score 60%-79% (pass), 80%+ (Distinction).
The three assessments are:
Online Knowledge Based 50 multiple choice questions - 60 minutes (20%)
Portfolio Based Interview – 30-45 minutes (40%)
Project Improvement Presentation 20-30 minutes (40%)
