Job role
You will provide administrative support and assist with day to day financial activities such as data entry to month-end management accounts and year-end financial statements. You’ll also gain skills and experience that will set you up for an incredibly rewarding career. Duties will include:
  • Managing paperwork
  • Processing sales & purchases invoices (Bookkeeping)
  • Bank analysis
  • Assisting in preparing VAT returns
  • Processing and submission of monthly payroll RTI’s to HMRC
  • Assisting in preparing annual accounts
  • Working with accounting software’s such as VT, QuickBooks and Tax Calc
  • Tax
  • Other administrative duties as required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Great organisational skills
  • Evidence of previous employment (this could be a part time, voluntary work or even a Saturday job)

  • GCSE 9-4/A*-C or equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths
There is no college attendance. Due to this, applications with less than the required grades will not be considered. Equally, applications received without stating maths and English GCSE/Functional Skills results will not be considered.
  • If you hold a Level 2 AAT Certificate or hold an A Level in Accounting Grade A*-C you can move straight onto the Level 3 apprenticeship
Course breakdown
The apprenticeship will need you to attend classes online on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday for the length of a full college day, which you need to commit to.
Students will be taught using our online learning platform giving the freedom to attend virtually from anywhere. Due to being a virtual apprenticeship the training can be completed at home or in the work place and would be agreed with the employer. Time spent training will come under the working hours per week.

Apprentices are independently assessed at the end of their programme to achieve the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship at a Pass or Distinction grade.      
  • Synoptic Test (3 Hours on a College PC – 40%) Covering: IT Systems/Processes, Standards, Reporting, Analysis, Comms, Problem Solving, Quality and Accountability within a Financial Accounting Environment
  • A portfolio and reflective discussion (60%) showing evidence of knowledge, skills and behaviours while within the workplace had met required standards.
  • Standard Level 2 and Level 3 AAT Exams after each individual unit.
Future prospects
For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full time employment and progress to higher level qualifications.
