Job role
This payroll role has been created for an assistant to help us to provide our client payroll function. The role will involve: 
  • Collecting and collating information from clients
  • Processing payments through the Ftax & SAGE software
  • Sending payslips and reports
  • Processing monthly auto-enrolment pension reports and payments
  • Calculating holiday pay and statutory payments
  • Processing statutory deductions
  • Reporting and processing starters and leavers
  • The role also requires accurate and timely submission of all reports to HMRC
  • Further responsibilities will involve processing and reporting of monthly CIS deductions for several clients
  • You must be flexible to carry out other duties on occasion depending on business requirements at times to enhance customer experience
  • There will be opportunities to get involved in other aspects of client record keeping, including holiday pay and other areas of HR.

Desired qualifications
  • GCSE 9-4/A*-C or equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths, proof of certificates is required.
We do not have the facility to provide Maths and English upskilling alongside the apprenticeship, applications with less than the required grades will not be considered. Equally applications received not stating Maths and English GCSE results will not be considered.
Course breakdown
This programme has been carefully developed to correspond with the latest Payroll standards to support learners undertaking the Payroll Administrator Apprenticeship. It will combine work-based learning, off the job training (minimum 20%) and college education. Furthermore, incorporated into the programme is the IAB Level 3 Payroll Administration qualification, accredited by the International Association of Bookkeepers.

What attendance is required?
The apprenticeship will need you to attend classes online on a Monday and Tuesday every other month for the length of a full college day, which you need to commit to.
Students will be taught using our online learning platform giving the freedom to attend virtually from anywhere. Due to being a virtual apprenticeship the training can be completed at home or in the work place and would be agreed with the employer. Time spent training will come under the working hours per week.
It is a Government requirement for you to spend 20% of your apprenticeship working towards your “Off the Job Learning” – Off the job learning can consist of college attendance, homework/coursework, project related work, employer training, mentoring and coaching, plus a number of other tasks.
Learning and assessment
Students will have full access to the college facilities as well as an online learning platform called Canvas which holds all of our research and learning material. They will also gain access to Sage Payroll system to practice on. Apprentices and Managers will have access to OneFile, our online apprenticeship portfolio which is used by the apprentice and assessor to track the apprenticeship.  

Workplace assessors will also be in regular contact to support learning and ensure progression is being made. These reviews are critical to ensuring apprentices are progressing with their programme and are being supported appropriately in the workplace. 

Apprentices will need to successfully complete two exams as well as an End Point Assessment (EPA).
Future prospects
For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full time employment and progress to higher level qualifications.
